Assemblage Box for Anna

My first attempt at making an assemblage box. This was made for a neighbor, Anna, whose father smokes cigars and provided several boxes for my art. This particular box held both cigars and coffee. Anna went to school with my youngest son, Andrew, and was in an horrific car accident her senior year. She was in the hospital for a long time and her recovery has been long and steady this past year. This fall she will be going to college where she will be practicing her own art. She is a painter and you can see her work here. Her best friend and a young woman whom I adore, Hanna, is in the upper left-hand corner.

great texture and scale, love the little buttons on the top row. Lovely colors, as always.

    1. It was hard to show, but those “buttons” are washers that slide back and forth on a metal rod. I photographed it lying flat instead of upright.

I love the sentimentality of the box. Super cool project. Thanks for sharing Anna’s story as well. I will go over now and check out her art!

    1. Thanks, Sunny, it was pretty horrific for quite a while, but she has pulled through. She’s pretty talented, too, as you will see.
